MAURY REGIONAL WOMEN'S CENTER HOSTS
MAMMOGRAPHY, MASSAGE & MAKEOVERS
COLUMBIA, Tenn.— Maury Regional Medical Center will host Mammography, Massage and Makeovers on December 11 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Women’s Center, according to Women’s Services Coordinator Dana Salters.
“We encourage women to invite a friend and come join us for this fun and educational event to help promote breast cancer awareness. Attendees can enjoy being pampered with chair massages and makeovers while also having the opportunity to learn more about our new digital mammography service and breast self exams,” said Salters.
Women age 40 and older are encouraged to receive their annual mammogram during this event. A physician’s order is not required for a screening mammogram, but space is limited. The Women’s Center is located in the Outpatient Pavilion (building B) on the campus of Maury Regional Medical Center. To schedule a mammogram for this evening, call 931.490.7435.
The Women’s Center added digital mammography to its array of services in September. This technology incorporates revolutionary imaging technology that provides incredibly sharp images that can be viewed and manipulated by radiologists on high-resolution computer monitors that enhance visualization of the structures within the breast tissue. They can also adjust brightness and contrast, and zoom in on specific areas to help detect small calcifications, masses, and other changes that may be signs of early cancer.
Digital mammography offers a number of other practical advantages and patient conveniences. Because there is no waiting for film to be developed, patients spend less time in the Women’s Center and the need for repeat exams due to under or over exposure is reduced. Digital images are easily stored and transferred electronically, eliminating the dependency on one set of original films.
