MRMC laboratory re-accredited for superior service

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – The Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) laboratory has once again received re-accreditation from the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB). The MRMC laboratory has been consistently recognized for superior service for more than 12 years.

The AABB Accreditation Program strives to improve the quality and safety of collecting, processing, testing, distributing and administering blood and blood products. The organization has been active since 1957 developing standards for blood banks and transfusion services including cellular therapies, perioperative services, relationship testing, immunohematology reference laboratories, molecular testing and patient blood management.

“There are a number of laboratory technicians working in the blood bank and each contributes to make this department a success. We take pride in the fact that what we do can have a direct effect on patient recovery. The AABB accreditation helps us achieve or exceed the standards they have set to insure patient safety,” said Kris Loggins, blood bank supervisor.
