MRMC announces support group meetings for August

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) offers a variety of education and support groups led by dedicated staff members who volunteer their time and expertise to help ensure community members learn more about managing their health. The public is invited to attend these free meetings. The following groups will be meeting in August:  

  • The Diabetes Education Group will meet Tuesday, August 7, at 11:30 a.m. in the medical center’s Private Dining Room One. MRMC Clinical Pharmacist David Perry will discuss herbal medicines and how they differ from prescription medicines. Topics will include tips for anyone considering using herbal products and are they safe? The Diabetes Education Group meets regularly on the first Tuesday of each month.   • Lungs for Life, the COPD Support Group, will meet at 2:00 p.m. on August 1 in Private Dining Room One on the ground floor of Maury Regional Medical Center. Occupational Therapist Denice Hornbaker will discuss “Energy Conservation and Work Simplification.” Topics will include tips on how to save your breath and energy while at play and work. The group meets monthly to discuss self-care and management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. For more information, call 931.380.4094.
  • Expectant Parent Classes are also offered each month with a variety of course topics, including a comprehensive six-hour class, breastfeeding, and a siblings class designed for new brothers and sisters.
