Maury Regional Health Care Foundation accepts donation to Women's Center Fund

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – John and Thayne Brown recently held a benefit auction that raised $5,065 for the Women’s Center Fund of the Maury Regional Health Care Foundation, according to Foundation Executive Director Joe K. Kilgore.

“I am deeply touched by the generosity of John and Thayne and their friends at Crye-Leike Realtors for dedicating so much time and effort to help local cancer patients,” said Kilgore.

The auction held on April 28 included items donated by numerous businesses and individuals in the community as well as donations from First Farmers & Merchants Bank and Ascend Federal Credit Union.

The Women’s Center Fund assists local cancer patients with expenses such as wigs, headpieces, camisoles and lymphedema sleeves during their medical treatment. The fund also provides mammograms for patients who cannot afford one and has provided initial funding of the After Breast Cancer Program with the YMCA of Maury County.

“This was something I have wanted to do for a long time,” said Thayne Brown. “My goal is to make the public aware that early detection is the cure for cancer—be it breast, colon, or prostate, man or woman—and that there is no reason why anyone should have to refuse testing based on their financial circumstances.”
