MAURY REGIONAL DIABETES EDUCATION GROUP DISCUSSES STRESS DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — The Diabetes Education Group at Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) will host a meeting titled “Surviving the Holidays” on Tuesday, October 5, in the medical center’s Private Dining Room One at 11:30 a.m. The group, which meets monthly at MRMC, encourages the public to attend this free event.

Donna Shedd, Diabetes Program Coordinator at MRMC, will discuss the health effects that stress can have on those with diabetes as well as ways to better manage stress during the holiday season.

“The holidays can be a stressful time for everyone,” said Shedd. “When you have a chronic condition like diabetes, stress can have an adverse effect on your health by causing elevated blood glucose. At our next meeting, we will talk about ways to handle stress during the holidays so it will be a happier and healthier time of the year.”
