Diabetes Education Group to learn the signs and symptoms of heart attacks and strokes

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – The Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) Diabetes Education Group will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, in the medical center’s Private Dining Room One. Michelle Kennedy, a registered nurse on the cardiovascular step-down unit at MRMC, will discuss the signs and symptoms of heart attacks and strokes. The public is invited to attend this free program.

“Uncontrolled diabetes causes damage to many different systems in the body, especially the circulatory system. We hope people will take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about this very important health issue,” said Donna Shedd, RN, and certified diabetes instructor at MRMC.

The Diabetes Education Group meets regularly on the first Tuesday of each month to discuss and share helpful information about diabetes and related illnesses. It is one component of MRMC’s award-winning outpatient diabetes education program, received following rigorous onsite auditing by the American Diabetes Association.
