MAURY REGIONAL DIABETES EDUCATION GROUP DISCUSSES HEALTHY EATING

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — The Diabetes Education Group at Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) will host a meeting titled “A Healthier Diet” on Tuesday, October 4, in the medical center’s Private Dining Room One at 11:30 a.m. The group, which meets monthly at MRMC, encourages the public to attend this free event.

Donna Shedd, RN, and certified diabetes educator at MRMC, will be joined by dietitians on the medical center staff to discuss ways to achieve a healthier diet for improved health. “One of the most common diabetes myths is that people with diabetes must eat special foods,” said Shedd. “Most people, whether they have diabetes or not, should be eating healthier foods prepared in better ways.”

The program will provide tips for preparing healthier meals every day and will offer suggestions for reducing the calories, carbohydrates and fat in your favorite holiday dishes.
