MAURY REGIONAL NURSES ORGANIZE FOOD DRIVE

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) nurses recently sponsored a food drive to benefit a local charity, The Harvest Share Food Pantry.

According to Diane Perry, nurses week committee chair and administrative director of oncology and adult medicine services, the drive, titled “Giving Back to the Community,” is the first MRMC annual food drive of such a scale to assist the local community. More than 5,600 items were donated through the drive and delivered to the food pantry.

According to Donna Davaloz, director of Harvest Share Food Pantry, the pantry assists approximately 700 people each month, three times more than the past year. The food pantry recently opened up all of their reserves to meet the growing demand from the community.

“We want to thank everyone who donated to the drive and assisted us with this local effort. The participation throughout the different departments and units of the medical center was outstanding,” said Perry.

Anyone interested in more information on The Harvest Share Food Pantry may call 931.381.4285. All types of food donations are being accepted and may be dropped off at the food pantry located at 419 W 9th Street, across from King’s Daughters’ School.
