HEART HEALTH EDUCATION GROUP DISCUSSES CARDIAC DIET

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – The Healthy Hearts Education Group at Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) will discuss nutritional guidelines for those affected by heart disease on Tuesday, June 7, in the medical center’s Private Dining Room One at 1 p.m. The group, which meets monthly at MRMC, encourages the public to attend this free event.

Cindy Dugger, chief dietitian at MRMC, will present a program on the cardiac diet, a healthy eating plan often prescribed for people who have a history of heart disease or heart-related problems.

“A heart healthy diet is based upon the principles of low fat, low cholesterol and low sodium,” said Dugger. “At the upcoming meeting, we will talk about the different types of fats, ways to limit our sodium intake and foods that should be included in our diets for better heart health.”
