Holiday Hugs program at Maury Regional provides gifts to school children in need

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Nearly 700 Maury County school children received coats, sweaters and sweatshirts through the 2012 Holiday Hugs program sponsored by Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC).

Employees, physicians and volunteers selected children’s names and purchased gifts of clothing, which were sorted by members of the medical center’s Auxiliary and delivered to schools by Supply Chain and Plant Operations staff members. Employees and physicians in the MRMC Emergency Department adopted 100 names. This year, the program experienced a 20% increase in the number of children in need, according to Volunteer Services Director Cindy Fox.

This is the fourteenth year that MRMC has sponsored the Holiday Hugs program.
