Maury Regional offers free knee and hip replacement seminar

COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Millions of Americans suffer from pain in the knee or hip joint and more than one million knee and hip replacement surgeries are performed annually.

Dr. J. Fredrick Wade, an orthopedic surgeon on the medical staff at Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC), will present a free seminar on knee and hip replacement on Tuesday, December 3. The program will be held at 6 p.m. in the Maury Regional Medical Center Annex, located across the street from the medical center at 1223 ½ Trotwood Avenue.

Dr. Wade will discuss medical and surgical options for chronic knee and hip pain. He will address who is a candidate for joint replacement surgery, what to do in preparation for joint replacement and what solutions will provide the best long-term benefits for pain relief.

“There are many causes for knee and hip pain, including normal wearing of the joint, varying forms of arthritis and osteoporosis. In this seminar, I will discuss the non-surgical options to relieve pain as well as the surgical procedures that provide relief to those whose joints have experienced enough damage to make them an appropriate candidate for joint replacement,” said Wade.

The orthopedic surgeons and staff at MRMC have a commitment to quality that has resulted in Joint Commission certification for knee and hip replacement as well as designation as a Blue Distinction Center+ by BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.

Light refreshments will be served. Registration is not required. For more information, call 931.840.4446.
