Marshall Medical Center offers free community health fair on February 13

LEWISBURG, Tenn. – Marshall Medical Center (MMC) will host a free community health fair on Thursday, February 13, according to CEO Phyllis Brown. The event will be held in the hospital’s main conference room from 5 until 6:30 p.m.

In recognition of February as Heart Month, the upcoming health fair will focus on heart health. Information on heart disease and many other health topics will be available to those attending.

Dr. Kevin M. Maquiling, an interventional cardiologist with Vanderbilt Heart-Columbia, will present a free seminar on heart health at 5:30 p.m., in the Specialty Clinic.

Free blood pressure checks will be offered along with free blood glucose/cholesterol testing. For the most accurate lab results, fasting for 8 to 12 hours is recommended.

“A recent community health needs assessment conducted by Marshall Medical Center shows that heart disease is among the top health concerns here in our community,” said Brown. “We hope the upcoming health fair will help members of our community to learn more about heart disease and how to lower their risk.”
