Marshall Medical Center presents college scholarship awards

LEWISBURG, Tenn. — Marshall Medical Center (MMC) has awarded college scholarships to two high school graduates who plan to pursue careers in health care, according to CEO Phyllis Brown.

Sara Poarch and Olivia Schultz, both recent graduates of Marshall County High School, were the recipients of the 2013 Medical Career Scholarship awarded by MMC. The $1,000 scholarships are presented yearly to students pursuing a career in the human medicine field. Poarch plans to attend the University of Tennessee, while Schultz will continue her education at Middle Tennessee State University.

This is the 17th year that MMC has awarded scholarships to area high school students through the Partners in Education program.

“Marshall Medical Center is pleased to be able to provide scholarships recognizing the achievements of these two outstanding students,” said Lisa Steely, accounting supervisor and Partners in Education coordinator for MMC. “We are proud to support our local school system through the Partners in Education program.”
