Marshall Medical Center adds cataract surgery to available surgical services

LEWISBURG, Tenn. – Marshall Medical Center (MMC) has added cataract procedures to the list of surgical services available at the medical center, according to CEO Phyllis Brown.

“Marshall Medical Center is pleased to be able to offer cataract surgery to residents of our community. We have already begun hearing from patients who appreciate the convenience of being able to have surgery close to home, eliminating the need to travel out of town,” said Brown.

Mark A. Kroll, M.D., J.D., a board-certified ophthalmologist associated with the Vanderbilt Eye Institute, performs cataract procedures in the surgery suite at MMC on the second Tuesday of each month. Dr. Kroll received his medical degree from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. He completed a residency in ophthalmology and a fellowship in corneal and refractive surgery at Loma Linda. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He sees patients locally at the office of Dr. Jeffrey L. Jordan, located at 1250 South Ellington Parkway in Lewisburg.

Cataract surgical procedures are performed at MMC on an outpatient basis, allowing patients to return home the same day. A typical outpatient visit is three hours or less. For more information about this new service, call MMC at 359.6241.
