MAURY REGIONAL HOSPITAL FEATURES HEART HEALTH AT NEXT DIABETES SEMINAR
COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Whitney Reynolds, a physician assistant who specializes in cardiology, will be the guest speaker at the next Maury Regional Hospital diabetes seminar on February 5. She is associated with the cardiologists at South Central Heart Group.
Reynolds will discuss the effects diabetes has on coronary heart disease and the increased risk of the disease that is associated with diabetes.
According to the American Heart Association, diabetes is a major
factor that increases the risk of coronary heart disease
and heart attack. Even when glucose (blood sugar) levels
are under control, diabetes increases the risk
of heart disease and stroke, but the risks are even
greater if blood sugar is not well controlled. About
three-quarters of people with diabetes die of some form
of heart or blood vessel disease.
The Diabetes Education Group, which meets monthly at Maury Regional Hospital, will host this event free for the community. The seminar will take place Tuesday, February 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the First Floor Conference Room of the hospital. For more information, call 931.540.4324.
