COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Graduates of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Maury Regional Medical Center and their families are invited to attend the unit’s 5th annual reunion on Saturday, September 24 from 3 until 5 p.m. at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, located at 2712 Trotwood Avenue in Columbia.

All graduates of the Maury Regional NICU, their parents, siblings and grandparents are invited to attend the reunion.

Maury Regional’s NICU, in a partnership with Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, began serving patients in October of 2006. The eight-bed neonatal intensive care unit is staffed with nine physicians, eight neonatal nurse practitioners and 27 registered nurses specially trained to provide a higher level of newborn care.

Since opening five years ago, the NICU has served approximately 650 patients whose stay in the nursery ranges from a few days to several months. The unit’s state-of-the-art equipment includes a cardiac monitoring system, ventilators, intensive care isolettes and electronic patient documentation for physicians.

“There truly is a special relationship that develops between our staff members and the patients we serve,” said Nurse Manager Amanda Ingram, NICU. “Our entire staff looks forward each year to reuniting with children who have been patients of our unit. It is so rewarding to see how the children have changed over the past year and to renew our bond with their families.”

The upcoming celebration will include a display of current photos of NICUgraduates. Parents who would like to provide a child’s photo for display at the event may submit it via e-mail to For those planning to attend the reunion, registration is encouraged.
