Maury Regional NICU to host seventh annual reunion

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) invites former NICU families to attend the seventh annual reunion on Saturday, October 5, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Maury County Park. The event will be held at the Kiwanis Shelter.

All graduates of the NICU, their parents, siblings and grandparents are invited to attend the reunion. A picnic style lunch will be served. Activities will include inflatables, face painting, games, a family photo booth, and much more.

Maury Regional’s NICU, in collaboration with Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, began serving families in October of 2006. The eight-bed neonatal intensive care unit is staffed with seven physicians, ten neonatal nurse practitioners, 27 registered nurses and 20 respiratory therapists specially trained to provide a higher level of newborn care. The unit’s state-of-the-art equipment includes a cardiac monitoring system, ventilators, intensive care isolettes and electronic patient documentation for physicians.

“We are pleased to be able to offer an advanced level of care that enables families to stay close to home during their baby’s extended stay in the medical center. This is a celebration for families who have had their infant in our NICU,” said Administrative Director of Women’s and Children’s Services Beth Himes.

The upcoming celebration will include a display of current photos of NICU graduates. Parents who would like to provide a child’s photo for display at the event may submit it via e-mail to lcompton@mauryregional.com. For those planning to attend the reunion, registration is encouraged. To register or receive more information, call 931.540.4281.

In the event of inclement weather, the reunion will be held at Whitthorne Middle School, located at 915 Lion Parkway in Columbia.
