MAURY REGIONAL WOMEN'S CENTER HOSTS FREE LUNCHEON FOR WOMEN
COLUMBIA, Tenn. – The Maury Regional Hospital Women’s Center will be hosting a free luncheon program titled Women Helping Women on Wednesday, August 15, at 12:00 p.m. in the Auxiliary Conference Room at Maury Regional Hospital.
Dr. Jeff Adams, an orthopedic surgeon on the medical staff at Maury Regional Hospital, will discuss osteoporosis. Dr. Adams will address the risk factors for women, how to combat developing osteoporosis and treatment options for those who develop fractures or broken bones caused by this disease.
Osteoporosis is a major public health threat for an estimated
44 million Americans, or 55 percent of the people 50
years of age and older. In the U.S., 10 million
individuals are estimated to already have the disease
and almost 34 million more are estimated to have low
bone mass, placing them at increased risk for osteoporosis.
Of the 10 million Americans estimated to have osteoporosis,
eight million are women.

Women Helping Women is a free quarterly lunch and learn series that addresses health issues facing women today.
