MAURY REGIONAL HOSPITAL APPOINTS NEW ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS

        

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – The Maury Regional Hospital Board of Trustees appointed Harvey Church, senior private banking executive at First Farmers and Merchants Bank (F&M), and Dr. Rebecca Hawkins, president of Columbia State Community College, to the advisory board at Maury Regional Hospital. Each will serve a three-year term.

       

Church, who has almost 20 years of local banking experience, will serve on the Finance and Budget Committee and Pension Plan Committee.  Prior to joining F&M, he served as city president of Regions Bank, formerly AmSouth Bank.

       

Church earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from Union University in Jackson. He is a graduate of Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and The Owen School of Business at Vanderbilt University.

       

Church is a Maury County native and is a member of many community organizations, including the Maury Alliance Board of Directors and Boys and Girls Club and Kiwanis Club of Columbia. He also serves as district chairman for the Duck River Boy Scouts of America.

       

Hawkins will serve on the Human Resources Committee and the Finance and Budget Committee. She has 40 years experience in higher education.  Prior to being named president of Columbia State Community College, she served as vice president of advancement and planning at Prince George’s Community College in Maryland following a promotion from the position of dean of the business and management division. During her career she has held numerous positions at other institutions.

       

Hawkins’ education credentials include a doctorate of philosophy in education from the University of Maryland, a master’s in education administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and a bachelor’s degree in marketing management from Virginia Commonwealth University.

       

In addition to a rich background of teaching, student service, and professional service in education, she has maintained a strong commitment to community outreach and leadership.  Hawkins is an active member of Maury Alliance, serving on the board and several sub-councils. She is a board member of First Farmers & Merchants Bank, Girl Scouts Council of Cumberland Valley, and a member of the Columbia Kiwanis Club.
