MAURY REGIONAL HOSPITAL OFFERS FREE CANCER SCREENING

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia will offer a free seminar and screening for oral, head and neck cancer on Friday, April 20, in the hospital’s Cancer Center.

Dr. Stephen E. Parey, an otolaryngologist on the medical staff at Maury Regional Hospital, will present a seminar at 1:00 p.m. addressing the common causes of oral, head and neck cancer as well as diagnosis and treatment options. Otolaryngologist Shaun C. Corbin, M.D., and radiation oncologist W. Michael Sattasiri, M.D., will join him to conduct screenings from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Individuals who use tobacco products and/or consume alcohol regularly are at increased risk for oral, head and neck cancer and are encouraged to attend this free screening. In fact, more than 85 percent of these cancers are directly linked to tobacco and alcohol use. The screening is a quick and painless test and no appointment is necessary.
