Respiratory Care

The Respiratory Care Department at Maury Regional Medical Center offers a wide range of services to both inpatients and outpatients. Respiratory therapists, under the direction of a physician, are licensed professionals who evaluate and treat patients with breathing disorders. Services include:

  • Oxygen administration
  • Aerosol and humidity therapy
  • Pulmonary hyperinflation therapy
  • Pulmonary function testing
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Cardiopulmonary stress testing
  • Mechanical ventilation

The Respiratory Care Department provides services to inpatients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The staff consists of respiratory therapists with credentials from the National Board for Respiratory Care. The department is located on the third floor of the medical center and houses a pulmonary (lung) function lab and a cardiopulmonary (heart and lung) stress lab.

Outpatient pulmonary function testing is conducted on the second floor of the Outpatient Pavilion on the Maury Regional Medical Center campus.  Convenient parking is available in front of the Outpatient Pavilion building.

Smoking Cessation Program

The Respiratory Care Department coordinates smoking cessation classes on a quarterly basis. Classes are held at Maury Regional Medical Center on the first four Mondays of January, April, July and October from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. in the first floor conference room. The program consists of a series of four classes:

  • Class I: Starting Out & Removing Roadblocks
  • Class II: Getting Ready to Quit
  • Class III: Staying Off Cigarettes
  • Questions and Celebrations

All instructors are former smokers and health professionals who understand the challenges that come with breaking the habit. Group interaction is promoted in an effort to develop a support network among those with the same goal—to stop smoking. Individuals may join at any time and attend as many sessions as they like. Participants are required to purchase a $10 class guide with exercises for each class topic.

A list of upcoming classes is available on our calendar of events. For more information, call 931.490.7076
