Maury Regional's Sleep Lab

Sleep studies assist in diagnosing a variety of conditions and disorders, including sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome and—in some cases—depression.

For those who think they suffer from a sleep disorder, the sleep lab at Maury Regional Hospital conducts tests and studies. Sleep studies are conducted around the clock and efforts are made to schedule tests at the patient’s convenience. For example, someone working an evening shift would have a sleep study conducted during the day when they normally sleep. By doing this, physicians are able to gather data when the patient is in a more natural sleep state.

During a study, the patient is monitored with devices that record heart rate, snoring, airflow, oxygen levels, blood pressure, brain waves and movement in the muscles and eyes.

Sleep study data is interpreted by a physician who is board certified or credentialed in sleep medicine. Sleep specialists at Maury Regional Hospital include a cross-section of physicians in neurology, pulmonology and otolaryngology. Results are given to the referring physician who will discuss the findings with the patient.

Sleep studies require a physician's referral. For more information, please call 931.540.0909.
