Maury Regional announces support group meetings

                                                                                                     

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) offers a variety of education and support groups led by dedicated staff members who volunteer their time and expertise to help ensure community members learn more about managing their health. The public is invited to attend these free meetings. The Diabetes Education Group will meet on Tuesday, October 2, at 11:30 a.m. in the medical center’s Private Dining Room One. Donna Shedd, certified diabetes instructor, will discuss “Diabetes Trick or Treat Trivia.” She will cover myths about diabetes and myths about food that people with diabetes can eat. Lungs for Life, the COPD Support Group, will meet at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, in Private Dining Room Two of Maury Regional Medical Center. Respiratory therapist Lisa Trimble will discuss oxygen therapy and traveling with oxygen. Lungs for Life meets on the first Wednesday of each month to promote self-care and management of COPD. The Breast Cancer Support Group will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, October 15, at the Women’s Center located in the MRMC Outpatient Pavilion. Joe Kilgore, executive director of the Maury Regional Health Care Foundation, will be this month’s special guest. More information may be obtained by calling 931.540.4166.

The Ostomy Partners Support Group will meet at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, in the MRMC First Floor Conference Room. Persons with an ileostomy, colostomy or urostomy as well as their families and friends are invited to attend. For more information, call 931.698.7438.

Expectant Parent Classes are offered each month with a variety of course topics, including a six-hour comprehensive class, breastfeeding, and a sibling’s class designed for new brothers and sisters.
