On September 14, Maury Regional Hospital was chosen
as the winner of the Tennesseans Improving Patient Safety
(TIPS) Award in the hospital category of 100-299 beds.
This effort involved a multi-disciplinary approach to
develop a process that could significantly reduce medication
errors in patients at the time of transfer to a different
level of care.
A team from Maury Regional Hospital worked together to evaluate the current system of patient transfer orders to develop an initiative that would improve the patient transfer process. Team members included representatives from inpatient nursing units, the Skilled Nursing Unit, medical staff, administration, performance improvement, risk management, information systems and ancillary clinical areas.
