Healthy Hearts Education Group June meeting features Vanderbilt cardiologist

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Dr. Rebecca Hung, a cardiovascular specialist with Vanderbilt Heart, will be the special guest speaker at the Healthy Hearts Education Group meeting on June 28 at 6 p.m. in the William R. Walter Educational Conference Center at the Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) Annex.

Since 2002, Dr. Hung’s primary focus has been the treatment of heart failure. A graduate of Harvard Medical School, she was recruited to Nashville for the Vanderbilt heart transplant/heart failure program in 2005. In April of this year, Dr. Hung opened the heart failure program at Vanderbilt Heart–Columbia.

“We are pleased to have Dr. Hung seeing patients that are discharged from MRMC in the heart failure clinic and to offer this opportunity for the public to hear her speak at this month’s Healthy Hearts meeting,” said Paula Streeter, Healthy Hearts event coordinator.

Also speaking at this event will be MRMC Chief Dietitian Cindy Dugger who will present a program on heart healthy grilling. Healthy Hearts meetings are held quarterly at 6 p.m. in the William R. Walter Educational Conference Center of the MRMC Annex, located across from the hospital at 1223½ Trotwood Avenue. Meetings feature guest speakers and special programs aimed at sharing timely information on the management of heart disease in an informative as well as entertaining fashion.
