Cataract surgery added to surgical services at Wayne Medical Center

WAYNESBORO, Tenn. – Wayne Medical Center (WMC) has added cataract procedures to the list of outpatient surgical services available at the medical center, according to CEO Harley Smith.

Daniel K. Bregman, M.D., a board-certified ophthalmologist, recently began performing cataract procedures in the surgery suite at WMC. Dr. Bregman, who is associated with Eye Health Partners in Columbia, received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

“Wayne Medical Center is pleased to now be able to offer cataract surgery to residents of our community. Our patients appreciate the convenience of being able to have this type of surgery close to home, eliminating the need to travel out of town,” said Smith.

Cataract procedures are performed at WMC on an outpatient basis, allowing patients to return home the same day. In addition to cataract surgery, WMC offers a full range of general surgical procedures on an outpatient basis.
