Wayne Medical Center joins UT Extension in offering free workshop series

WAYNESBORO, Tenn. — Wayne Medical Center (WMC) will join UT Extension to offer a free lunch-and-learn workshop series titled “Living Well with Chronic Conditions.” Six programs will be offered on Tuesdays, starting October 15, from 11 a.m. until noon, at Wayne County Senior Center, located at 202 Fairlane Drive in Waynesboro.

The fun, skill-building program will help persons with a chronic condition and their caregivers learn to better manage the condition and get more from life. Chronic medical conditions include arthritis, asthma, cancer, COPD, depression, diabetes, heart disease, obesity and fibromyalgia. Topics to be addressed include:

  • Management of symptoms
  • Problem-solving techniques
  • Benefits of physical activity and healthy eating
  • Proper medication usage
  • Making informed decisions
  • Depression management
  • Working with your health care provider

Sessions will be facilitated by Charlotte Smith of UT Extension and Julie Odle, a licensed practical nurse on the staff at WMC. The workshop series will continue through December 3. There will be no programs on November 5 and 19.
