Wayne Medical Center welcomes Smith as new CEO

WAYNESBORO, Tenn. — Richard Harley Smith has accepted the position of chief executive officer at Wayne Medical Center (WMC), according to Paul Betz, chief operating officer for Maury Regional Medical Center, which operates WMC.

Smith, who began work at WMC on March 4, most recently served as CEO at Washington County Hospital in Plymouth, North Carolina. He has nearly 20 years experience as a hospital CEO during his health care career.

“I am proud that Mr. Smith has decided to lead Wayne Medical Center and think that he will be a great fit with our organization. His extensive background in health care management will be very beneficial,” Betz said.

Smith is a graduate of Coker College in South Carolina and holds master’s degrees in human resource management and business administration.
