Health Care Foundation announces art show dates

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – The Maury Regional Health Care Foundation will hold its seventh annual art show and sale on Friday, August 2, from noon until 8 p.m. and Saturday, August 3, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Memorial Building in Columbia. Regional artists whose mediums include oil, watercolor, pottery, jewelry, wood and much more will be present at the event.

According to Foundation Executive Director Joe Kilgore, the 2013 Art Effects featured artist is Beverly Basham Smith of Vinemont, Alabama. A fan of the great outdoors all her life, her walks in the woods with family members are among the earliest influences that inspired her passion to bring the beauty she found in nature to canvas.

“I combined my love for nature and art in college, where I graduated with a biology degree and a fine arts degree. What to do with such a diverse education? Wildlife art of course!” said Smith.

Smith has served as chairman and committee member of the Southern Wildlife Festival in Decatur, Alabama and helped to start as well as judge other art shows throughout the southeast. To see examples of Smith’s work and learn more about the artist, visit her Web site at http//twocedarsstudio.com/about.

“We have over thirty great artists this year that will be showing a lot of diversity in their individual mediums. There will be beautiful artwork in all price ranges and styles,” Kilgore said.

Proceeds from this year’s art show benefit the programs and services provided by the Maury Regional Health Care Foundation. To learn more about the foundation or to make a donation, visit www.mauryregionalfoundation.com or call 931.380.4075.
