Maury Regional Medical Center will be hosting a series of grief support group meetings facilitated by Chaplain Lyndall Propst. Meetings will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the chapel located near the main entrance to the medical center. The goal of the meetings is to help those dealing with grief to find healthy ways to cope with the pain and to work toward finding a balance between remembering a loved one and leading a healthy productive life. The Diabetes Education Group meets the first Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m. in Maury Regional Medical Center's Auxiliary Conference Room. Dr. Joel Phares, a cardiologist with Vanderbilt Heart-Columbia, will discuss the increased risk that diabetics face for heart disease. Marshall Medical Center will offer a free seminar "Throw Smart" for youth coaches and parents of ages 7-12 who play baseball and softball. The program will begin at 4 p.m., in the main conference room and will be presented by orthopedic surgeons, athletic trainers and physical therapists. The Auxiliary of Maury Regional Medical Center will host a Masquerade $5 Jewelry Sale beginning at 7 a.m. in the Auxiliary Conference Room. All proceeds from the sale go back into the hospital to fund special projects and equipment by the Auxiliary. For more information, call 931.380.4047.

December 3, 2016 (Saturday)

A free expectant parent class, "Understanding Birth," meets from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. This six-hour class provides comprehensive information for expectant parents with topics that include stages of labor; comfort techniques; delivery process; pain management; physical and emotional changes following delivery and basic breastfeeding information. A meal ticket for lunch will be provided and a tour of the women's floor is given at the end of the class. Preregistration is required and available here. The Diabetes Education Group meets the first Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m. in Maury Regional Medical Center's Auxiliary Conference Room. Persons diagnosed with diabetes and their family members join together to learn more about the disease and its treatments. For more information, call 931.540.4324.

December 8, 2016 (Thursday)

The Alzheimer's Support Group will meet at noon in the Senior Life Solutions activity area in the Marshall Medical Center Medical Office Building at 1090 North Ellington Parkway in Lewisburg. The Coping with Cancer Support Group meets the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the MRMC Cancer Center at the Columbia Mall. The mission of the group is to support those who are diagnosed with cancer, as well as their friends and family, and to provide an opportunity to discuss the challenges, frustrations, fears and feelings associated with cancer.
