Maury Regional Medical Center announces smoking cessation classes

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — New Year’s resolutions are made by many each year and often one of the most difficult to keep is the resolution to quit smoking. If you are one of those who has tried and failed in the past, Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) would like to help you keep that resolution in 2013. If you have decided to break the habit of smoking, MRMC offers support through a group smoking cessation program that will take place during the month of January.

The program will consist of a series of four classes held each Monday beginning January 7 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in the First Floor Conference Room at the medical center. Classes are as follows:

  • January 7 – Starting Out & Removing Roadblocks
  • January 14 – Getting Ready to Quit
  • January 21 – Staying Off Cigarettes
  • January 28 – Questions and Celebrations

All instructors are former smokers and health professionals who understand the challenges that come with breaking this habit. Group interaction will be promoted in an effort to develop a support network among those with the same goal—to stop smoking. Participants are required to purchase a $10 class guide which contains exercises for each class topic.
