Diabetic Alert Dogs to visit MRMC
COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Rebecca Garrett, instructor and program coordinator for Borderland Farms, will be this month’s special guest at the Diabetes Education Group meeting to be held at 11 a.m., March 5, at Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC). With her will be dogs she has trained to detect high or low glucose levels before they reach a dangerous life-threatening range. Rebecca will discuss her training methods and will also share tips on how those with diabetes can train their own dogs to detect abnormal glucose levels.
The Diabetes Education Group meets on the first Wednesday of March, May, July, September and November to share helpful information about managing diabetes and related illnesses. These meetings are one component of MRMC’s award-winning outpatient diabetes education program. Meetings are open to the public and there is no charge to attend.
