Maury Regional Medical Center announces event dates

                                                                                                     

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) offers a variety of free events open to the public at which community members can learn more about managing their health. There is no charge to attend any of the events listed below. More information about meetings, support groups, seminars and health screenings is available at mauryregional.com.

“Controlling Your Blood Sugar,” a free seminar, will be presented by the MRMC Diabetes Education Group at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, in the William R. Walter Educational Conference Center of the MRMC Annex. For more information, please call 931.540.4324.

The Diabetes Education Group will meet on Tuesday, December 4, at 11:30 a.m. in the medical center’s Private Dining Room One. The topic for this meeting will be “Celebrating the Past & Looking Ahead.” Group members will discuss topics covered in 2012 and potential topics for 2013. For more information, call 931.540.4324.

Lungs for Life, the COPD Support Group, will meet at MRMC at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, in Private Dining Room One to discuss and promote self-care and management of COPD.  Registered Nurse Karen Miller will present a program entitled “A Long Winter’s Night.” Topics will include how the darker and colder times of winter affect us. Maury Regional Medical Center will host a free COPD seminar and screening from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, in the Auxiliary Conference Room on the first floor of the medical center. MRMC pulmonologist Maura Lipp. M.D. will present a brief overview of COPD at 10 a.m. prior to the screenings. To learn more, please call 931.380.4029.

Healthy Hearts Education Group will meet at 6 p.m. on December 27, in the William R. Walter Educational Conference Center of the MRMC Annex at 1223 ½ Trotwood Avenue (across from the medical center).
