Expectant Parent Classes

Babies may not come with instruction books, but it’s good to know there’s plenty of help available as you learn about your new baby. Our classes are led by trained professional staff who use seminars, class discussions, slides and video to help new parents get the skills they need to get started, and to help veteran parents brush up. Maury Regional Hospital offers expectant parent classes all year long. A schedule of classes is listed below. You'll need Adobe Reader, a free program available here to read and print the registration form.

What Can I Learn?

You can choose from nine classes, including Baby Basics, Labor, Delivery, Breast Feeding, Post Partum, Infant CPR, Just for Siblings, and Lamaze.

Post Partum

Okay. The baby is born. Now what? The changes that affect you don’t end with delivery of your baby. Just as it took nine months to make your baby, it takes time for you to adjust to the physical and emotional changes that may take place after being pregnant. During this class, we will discuss these changes as well as intimacy and birth control, newborn safety and the role of family support during this time.

Siblings

New brothers and sisters are created when your next baby is born. We teach children about what their new baby brother or sister will look like, explain ways that they can be helpful to their parents when the baby arrives, and foster and reinforce their feelings of self-worth. In addition, children are able to tour labor and delivery, post partum and nursery areas.
