Diabetes Education Group to learn summer food ideas

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — On Wednesday, May 7, the public is invited to attend a meeting of the Maury Regional Diabetes Education Group which will take place at 11 a.m. in the Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) Auxiliary Conference Room. There is no charge to attend the meeting which will feature MRMC Executive Chef Dustin Starkey.

Starkey will present a program entitled “Summer Food Ideas for Managing Diabetes.” During his presentation he will share ideas for light and simple foods for summer including his recipe for Summer Heirloom Tomato Caprese Salad.

“Insalada Caprese is a simple dish to prepare but one of the most delicious salads you will find. It is a wonderful summer lunch or first course for a summer meal,” said Chef Dustin.

He received his culinary degree from Culinard of Virginia College in Birmingham, Alabama and is a member of the American Culinary Federation.
