Don't be haunted by your Halloween

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – The Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) Diabetes Education Group will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, in the medical center’s Private Dining Room One. The topic for the meeting will be “Don’t be haunted by your Halloween.”

“Halloween brings out colorful costumes, grinning jack o-lanterns, and piles of candy. Though Halloween is all about being scared silly, the shock from stepping on the scale or checking your blood sugar after pillaging through the candy could turn your waistline and blood sugars into a real nightmare,” said group coordinator Donna Shedd. “At this meeting, MRMC registered dietitians will offer tips to help make Halloween a not-so-frightful night as we discuss food choices for people with diabetes.”

The Diabetes Education Group meets regularly on the first Tuesday of each month to discuss and share helpful information about managing diabetes and related illnesses. The meetings are one component of MRMC’s award-winning outpatient diabetes education program, received following rigorous onsite auditing by the American Diabetes Association. There is no charge to attend these meetings which are open to the public. More information may be obtained by calling 931.540.4324 or by visiting mauryregional.com.
