COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Maury Regional Health CEO Alan Watson was presented with the 2017 Small or Rural Hospital Leadership Award at the Tennessee Hospital Association (THA) 24th Annual Small and Rural Hospital Conference held March 30-31.
Each year, the award recognizes the hospital or health system CEO or executive who best exemplifies leadership, advocacy and commitment to small and rural hospitals in Tennessee.
THA President and CEO Craig Becker stated, “Alan Watson has been a strong supporter and advocate for rural hospitals and the unique challenges they deal with on a daily basis. He also has been a major supporter of THA throughout his career in Tennessee, currently serving as THA chairman.”
Watson has 34 years of health care experience, including 15 years of clinical work as a nuclear medicine technologist. In addition to serving as CEO at Maury Regional Health since 2012, he has served as CEO at St. Mary’s Medical Centers of Campbell and Scott counties and Baptist Hospital West in the Knoxville area, and CEO at Bradley Memorial Hospital, Cleveland.
Watson is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He received a bachelor’s degree in nuclear medicine technology from the University of Alabama Birmingham and a master’s degree in community health administration from the California College for Health Sciences.
