Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
Maury Regional Health has a top-rated staff of paramedics and emergency medical technicians who respond to ambulance calls across Lewis, Maury and Wayne counties. In addition to transferring patients to local emergency rooms at Maury Regional Medical Center and Wayne Medical Center, regional helicopter services are used to transport patients to regional trauma or specialty centers, when necessary.
Our dedicated and highly-trained EMS teams utilize the latest life-saving technology, including:
- AutoPulse® Resuscitation Systems capable of performing automated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) compressions to a patient who is in cardiac arrest, allowing medical personnel to carry out additional life-saving measures during an emergency response situation
- Global positioning satellite (GPS) technology for faster ambulance dispatching, improved response times and ambulance tracking
- Mobile transmission of electrocardiograms (EKGs) to local emergency departments before a patients arrive to provide improved patient treatment and outcomes
Maury County helped lead the way for ambulance agencies by being the second established service in the state on November 1, 1967, with Maury Regional Medical Center assuming management in 1996. Currently Maury Regional EMS is designated by the state as a Regional Medical Communications Center (RMCC).

courtesy care call program
Maury Regional EMS offers a program to help patients better manage their health condition at home. The Courtesy Care Call program provides a free in-home visit following hospital discharge for patients who qualify based on their diagnosis. The program provides support to patients who are managing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and congestive heart failure. The program is the result of a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as part of its telehealth network grant.
Patients who qualify will be contacted to schedule a home visit during which a paramedic or nurse practitioner will check vital signs, provide education and confirm any follow-up appointments that may have been scheduled. The staff member can also assist with coordinating referrals to other services and help obtain certain types of home medical equipment.
If any concern about the patient's health should be noted during the home visit, the staff member would arrange a telehealth visit with a physician or nurse practitioner. Transportation to the emergency department could be provided if necessary.
Patients who qualify for the program are informed by a member of the care team prior to their hospital discharge.
