Books for Children

Maury Regional Health understands the importance of reading to children to enhance bonding and promote development. Our collaboration with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and Parker’s Project are ways in which we provide books to children.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free books to children from birth to age five. Launched in 1995 to benefit the children in Dolly Parton’s home county in East Tennessee, this program now spans four countries and mails more than one million free books each month to children around the world. Families who deliver at Maury Regional Medical Center will be provided with a registration card during their stay or may register their child online at GovernorsFoundation.org.

Parker’s Project

Parker Ellington Martin was born on November 21, 2016, ten weeks before his due date. He spent the next 31 days in the Maury Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and his parents, Cord and Sondra Martin, were grateful for the care and support that they received during his stay. As educators, the Martins recognize the importance of reading to children early and often. Shortly after their son was discharged, they formed Parker’s Project, a program through the Maury Regional Health Care Foundation and its NICU Fund to provide every family in the NICU with a book to read to their child

We are grateful for the support of Imagination Library, the Martin family and the donors who support projects that benefit our patients.
