The Wound Center
For most people, cuts and scratches heal within days or weeks. But for those whose natural healing process is hampered, a simple sore can become a complex medical problem requiring specialized care. The professional and caring staff at the Maury Regional Wound Center offer hope to patients with persistent wounds that have not healed.
The Maury Regional Wound Center specializes in monitoring, managing and treating non-healing wounds resulting from trauma, infection, complications of diabetes, or other causes.
A Team of Wound Care Specialists
Patient's wounds are assessed by a physician and nursing staff who have been specially trained in treating chronic non-healing wounds. A plan of care is established for the patient and is communicated to the referring physician who continues to treat underlying conditions and provides overall care to the patient.
Your Wound Treatment Program
Patients will undergo a thorough diagnostic examination to identify the type of wound and the underlying problems causing the wound. After this, a program specifically tailored to each patient's needs will be initiated based on the most effective treatment options. Treatment may include:
- Diabetic education
- Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
- Infectious disease management
- Laboratory evaluation
- Nuclear medicine
- Nutritional management
- Pain management
- Physical therapy
- Vascular evaluation
The Wound Center features hyperbaric oxygen therapy in which patients breathe 100 percent pure oxygen inside a pressurized, clear acrylic chamber to assist in the healing process of their wounds. The treatment quickly delivers high concentrations of oxygen to the bloodstream, fighting certain types of infections. It also stimulates the growth of new blood vessels and improves circulation.
The wound care program operates by appointment and requires a referral from a primary care physician.
