CHILDREN'S HEALTH

Maury Regional Health offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient children's services. Our expertise includes emergency care available at our hospitals, outpatient care through physician practices, clinics and therapy locations and inpatient care provided by highly skilled hospital medicine physicians board certified in internal medicine and pediatrics.

HOSPITAL CARE

The pediatric program at Maury Regional Medical Center provides care for young patients admitted to the medical center by their pediatrician or as a result of a visit to the emergency department. When clinically appropriate, pediatricians can contact the hospital medicine physician (pediatric hospital specialist) so that the child and family may go directly to the pediatric floor where staff will be ready to assist with the transition into the hospital. Our in-hospital pediatricians work closely with your child’s pediatrician to ensure continuity of care following discharge and will provide a report regarding diagnosis and treatment while in our care.

Inpatient care for children at Maury Regional Medical Center is led by a team of hospital medicine physicians who are trained in internal medicine and pediatrics. Hospital medicine physicians provide care strictly to inpatients and have experience treating a vast array of health conditions in both children and adults and are complemented by a staff of pediatric-trained nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other specialists.

Maury Regional’s pediatric team members are on duty around the clock, providing quick assessment and treatment for our young patients. This service complements our collaboration with Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt by both the affiliation of our neonatal intensive care unit and our seamless transfer of pediatric patients who need a higher level of care to Vanderbilt. Should your child ever need hospitalization, it is comforting to know that our team of health care professionals is committed to providing the best care possible.

Newborn Care

The Maury Regional Mother-Baby Unit offers spacious suites where mother and baby receive couplet care, allowing the infant to room in with the mother in order to enhance the early mother-baby bonding experience.  Mothers may elect to have their established community-based physician provide care for their newborn, or may choose to take advantage of our hospital-based, board-certified pediatricians.  Our hospital pediatricians are available in the hospital 24 hours per day and offer additional services such as performing in-room examination of your baby and providing extended teaching sessions with you regarding the care and progress of your baby.
