MRMC offers smoking cessation classes in January

COLUMBIA, Tenn. —  Have you decided to quit smoking? It’s a New Year’s resolution made by many each year, and often one of the most difficult to keep. If you are one of those who has tried and failed in the past, Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) would like to help you keep that resolution in 2014. MRMC offers support through a group smoking cessation program taking place on Mondays during the month of January.

The program will consist of a series of four classes held each Monday from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Classes will begin January 6 and will be held in the First Floor Conference Room at the medical center. Class topics are as follows:

  • January 6 – Starting Out & Removing Roadblocks
  • January 13 – Getting Ready to Quit
  • January 20 – Staying Off Cigarettes
  • January 27 – Questions and Celebrations

All instructors are former smokers and health professionals who understand the challenges that come with breaking this habit. Group interaction will be promoted in an effort to develop a support network among those with the same goal—to stop smoking. Participants are required to purchase a $10 class guide which contains exercises for each class topic. Following completion of the course, participants may attend future classes as often as desired without charge.
