Support Groups and Special Services
Breast Cancer Support Group
Women who have experienced breast cancer, guest speakers, and trained professionals provide support and solutions to problems. Meets on the third Monday of every month at 5:30 p.m. at Maury Regional Medical Center in the Women's Center, located in the Outpatient Pavilion. The group does not meet in July, August or December. Celiac Support Group
The Celiac Support Group helps people learn about products and recipes that help to maintain a gluten-free diet for those with Celiac disease, a condition that makes them unable to tolerate wheat, rye and barley. Attendees include patients, their family members and anyone else who may be interested. Meetings are held quarterly at Maury Regional Medical Center. Diabetes Education Group
Persons diagnosed with
diabetes and their family members join together to learn more about the disease
and its treatments. Meets the first Tuesday of each month at 11:30
a.m. at Maury Regional Medical Center. For more information, call 931.540.4324.
Healthy Hearts Education Group
The Healthy Hearts Education Group focuses on empowering self-care management of heart disease through education and awareness. For more information, call 931.381.1111, extension 4343.
Look Good...Feel Better
Look Good….Feel Better is a free, national program for women undergoing cancer treatment. Look Good Feel Better is sponsored by the American Cancer Society and offers advice on dealing with the temporary changes in personal appearance from cancer treatment. The program is intended to help the cancer patient “look good and feel better" by offering tips on skin and hair care. The program is held at 5:30 p.m. Space is limited so reservations for the meetings must be made by calling 615.327.0991. (Information on upcoming meetings and meeting room will be posted on the Calendar of Events as soon as it becomes available.)
Lungs for Life: COPD Support Group
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a leading cause of death. Those affected by the disease can benefit from support, while learning how to better control symptoms and minimize further lung damage. This support group meets on the first Wednesday of each month with a focus on increasing awareness and self-management of COPD. All meetings begin at 2 p.m. in Private Dining Room 1 on the medical center’s ground floor. For more information, call 931.380.4094.
Ostomy Partners
Persons with an ileostomy,
colostomy, or urostomy meet the fourth Thursday of each month at Maury Regional Medical Center. Family members and friends are invited to attend. For more information, call 931.490.4600.
Pastoral Care Services
Maury Regional Medical Center’s Pastoral
Care Department supports the spiritual, religious, personal
and emotional needs and concerns of patients, families
and caregivers by providing appropriate pastoral resources.
Care is available to people of all faiths and you may
request to be visited by a minister of your specific
denomination or a coordinator with pastoral care training.
Referrals to the Pastoral Care Department can be initiated
on behalf of any patient, family member or caregiver
requesting pastoral care services. You may request a
visit by our Pastoral Care Coordinator in one of the
following ways:

Reach to Recovery
Reach to Recovery is an American Cancer Society volunteer visitation program for breast surgery patients. The volunteer visitor provides emotional support and also an educational kit containing a temporary prostheses and information. For more information, call 931.388.6525.
