Support Groups and Special Services
Alzheimer's Disease Support Group
Caregivers and family members of those with Alzheimer's disease are invited to participate in this group. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at noon, in the Senior Life Solutions activity area, located inside the Marshall Medical Office Building, at 1090 North Ellington Parkway in Lewisburg. Meetings feature speakers who focus on topics related to dementia and the challenges of caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease. For more information, call 931.270.3685.
Breastfeeding Support Group
The MilkyWay Moms Breastfeeding Group meets monthly on the second Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. and on the fourth Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Maury Regional Annex located at 1223 Trotwood Avenue (next to McDonald’s). This group is for new and expectant mothers to find encouragement from veteran mothers who understand the challenges that breastfeeding can present. Breast Cancer Support Group
Women who have experienced breast cancer, guest speakers, and trained professionals provide support and solutions to problems. Meets on the third Monday of every month at 5:30 p.m. at Maury Regional Medical Center in the Women's Center, located in the Outpatient Pavilion. The group does not meet in July, August or December. Coping with Cancer Support Group
The mission of the group is to support those who are diagnosed with cancer and to provide them with an opportunity to share their frustrations, fears and feelings. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m. at the MRMC Cancer Center at Columbia Mall. For more information, call 931.490.7192.
Celiac Support Group
The Celiac Support Group helps people learn about products and recipes that help to maintain a gluten-free diet for those with Celiac disease, a condition that makes them unable to tolerate wheat, rye and barley. Attendees include patients, their family members and anyone else who may be interested. Meetings are held quarterly at Maury Regional Medical Center. Diabetes Education Group
Persons diagnosed with
diabetes and their family members join together to learn more about the disease
and its treatments. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m. at Maury Regional Medical Center. Topics and presenters vary with each program. For more information, call 931.540.4324.
Grief Support Group
Maury Regional Medical Center hosts a series of grief support group meetings facilitated by MRMC Chaplain Lyndall Propst. Meetings are held in the chapel located near the main entrance to the medical center at 5:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. The goal is to help those dealing with grief to find healthy ways to cope with the pain and to work toward finding a balance between remembering a loved one and leading a healthy productive life. Healthy Hearts Education Group
The Healthy Hearts Education Group meets quarterly to share timely information focused on the management of heart disease and to learn more about maintaining good heart health. For more information, call 931.490.7283.
Persons with an ileostomy,
colostomy, or urostomy meet the fourth Thursday of each month at Maury Regional Medical Center. Family members and friends are invited to attend. For more information, call 931.490.4600.
Pastoral Care Services
Maury Regional Medical Center’s Pastoral
Care Department supports the spiritual, religious, personal
and emotional needs and concerns of patients, families
and caregivers by providing appropriate pastoral resources.
Care is available to people of all faiths and you may
request to be visited by a minister of your specific
denomination or a coordinator with pastoral care training.
Referrals to the Pastoral Care Department can be initiated
on behalf of any patient, family member or caregiver
requesting pastoral care services. You may request a
visit by our Pastoral Care Coordinator in one of the

Reach to Recovery
Reach to Recovery is an American Cancer Society volunteer visitation program for breast surgery patients. The volunteer visitor provides emotional support and also an educational kit containing a temporary prostheses and information. For more information, call 800.277.2345.
