MRMC announces January support group meetings


COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) will host five free support group meetings in January.

The Coping with Cancer support group will meet each Tuesday in January from 10-11 a.m. Meetings will be held at the MRMC Cancer Center at Columbia Mall in the Cancer Resource Center. The mission of this group is to support those who are diagnosed with cancer and to provide an opportunity to discuss the challenges, frustrations, fears and feelings associated with cancer. Family members and friends are also welcome to attend these meetings. To register for the cancer support group, call 931.490.7192.

The Diabetes Education Group will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, in MRMC Private Dining Room One. Lance Freeman, M.D., and Annie Haase, M.D., specialists in endocrinology on the MRMC medical staff, will discuss the disease process of diabetes and will provide information to help manage the disease. This group meets on the first Tuesday of each month to discuss issues concerning diabetes and related illnesses. For more information, call 931.540.4324.

The Celiac Support Group will meet at 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, in the MRMC First Floor Conference Room. This group meets quarterly to discuss the challenges and solutions to living with celiac disease. For more information on this group, call 931.381.1111, Ext. 1275.

The Breast Cancer Support Group will meet on Monday, January 20, at 5:30 p.m. at the MRMC Women’s Center located in the Outpatient Pavilion. More information may be obtained by calling 931.540.4166.

Ostomy Partners will meet on Thursday, January 23, at 10 a.m. in the First Floor Conference Room at MRMC. This support group for persons who have had an ileostomy, colostomy or urostomy, meets regularly on the fourth Thursday of the month. Family and friends are invited to attend.
