Free COPD Screening

June 22, 2019  |   10:00 AM  -   12:00 PM

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) refers to a group of diseases that affect the lungs and make it difficult to breathe. Emphysema and chronic bronchitis are the two main conditions associated with COPD. Free screenings for COPD will be offered at the Maury Regional Annex, located across from Maury Regional Medical Center. Among these screenings is the Alpha-1 test, a finger-stick blood sample used to screen for AATD. Fasting is not required before the screening. Other screening tests will include pulse oximetry to measure the body’s oxygen saturation and spirometry, a simple breathing test.

Maura Lipp, M.D., a specialist in pulmonary disease and internal medicine on the medical staff at Maury Regional Medical Center, will present an overview of COPD as part of the program.

Advance registration is not required. For more information, call 931.381.1111, extension 1347.
