The WHY of Evidence Based Practice


This is a 4-hour course focused on educating the nursing staff on the basic components of EBP, process of EBP, and searching sources for EBP.

The Course objectives are:

  • Identify the characteristics of evidence based practice.
  • Articulate the importance of EBP to nursing, patients and healthcare.
  • Explain the EBP process.
  • Delineate the use of PICOT to state an EBP question
  • Discuss the classification of intervention studies and hierarchy of evidence
  • Define the databases to search the literature for EBP support.
  • Demonstrate the use of resources at MRMC – to support EBP.

This course is approved for 4 continuing nursing education units.

Maury Regional Medical Center is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Tennessee Nurses Association, an accredited provider by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

REGISTRATION & PAYMENT

Advance registration is required. The registration deadline is two weeks prior to the scheduled course.

Maury Regional Health Employees:
Maury Regional Health employees enroll via the Professional Development Academy. Employees must also get department approval.

Non—Maury Regional Health Participants:
