SLEEP STUDIES AT MARSHALL MEDICAL CENTER

Getting a good night's sleep is vital to our health and wellness. If you experience issues that routinely keep you from sleeping, a sleep study can help your physician determine the underlying cause.

The Sleep Center at Marshall Medical Center is staffed by trained sleep technologists who conduct studies to record your heart rate, airflow, oxygen levels and movement during a normal sleep cycle. The results of this study are interpreted by a board-certified sleep medicine specialist to inform your physician of any issues you may be experiencing.

A SLEEP STUDY CAN DIAGNOSE SLEEP DISORDERS

Sleep disorders that can be diagnosed from a sleep study include:

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A SLEEP STUDY

Sleep studies gather valuable information about an individual's sleep patterns. If your physician schedules a sleep study, you will be contacted to register in advance. Studies are conducted at Marshall Medical Center around the individual's regular sleep schedule.

Before the study begins, a sleep technologist will connect various devices to the patient. These devices will monitor the individual during their period of sleep, including heart rate, airflow, oxygen levels and movement. Once these devices are connected, you will be free to go to sleep in one of our comfortable sleep study suites. A technologist will monitor you throughout the sleep cycle. When you awake, the technologist will disconnect the various monitors and you will be discharged. Results of the study will be interpreted by a physician and reported to your doctor.

In addition to studies conducted in our sleep centers, a home sleep study is also an option. Speak to your doctor about the type of sleep study that is best for you.

SCHEDULING A SLEEP STUDY

A physician's order is required to schedule a sleep study. If you are concerned about a sleep disorder, speak to your doctor about the need for a sleep study.
