Lewis Health Center to host open house on August 8

HOHENWALD, Tenn. — Lewis Health Center will host an open house on Thursday, August 8, to share newly completed improvements to the facility with the community. The event will be held from 4 until 6 p.m.

Lewis Health Center recently completed a project that added approximately 2,500 square feet in the exam and laboratory areas as well as a new employee training space. The project also updated the registration area and expanded the lobby, which now serves patients during all hours of operation, Monday-Saturday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., and Sunday from 1 until 8 p.m.

Community members are invited to attend the open house on August 8 to meet staff members and enjoy refreshments. The event is part of National Health Center Week, observed August 4-10 to recognize the important role that health centers have in providing health care services to the community.

LHC is part of a network of Maury Regional Health-affiliated primary care practices that are designated as Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). FQHC practices provide a patient-centered medical home approach to primary care and use a sliding fee schedule to calculate discounts for patients based on income and family size.

Maury Regional Health has operated the LHC facility for more than 20 years, providing a range of outpatient services that include primary care, imaging, physical therapy, laboratory testing and a physician specialist clinic.

In 2018, LHC earned the Exemplary Project Award from the Rural Health Association of Tennessee for providing quality health care to rural areas. Earlier that year, United States Senator Lamar Alexander visited LHC to examine its work to provide outpatient health care services in a rural community, calling the facility “a model for rural health care.”
