Maury Regional Health to host Feeling Fabulous event October 28

09.24.2019

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Women facing a cancer diagnosis are invited to attend the free Feeling Fabulous program hosted by Maury Regional Health on October 28 at noon in the Maury Regional Cancer Center.

A cancer diagnosis impacts patients in a variety of ways, often leading to anxiety and lower self-esteem. Feeling Fabulous is a free event designed to help women with cancer learn how to address the changes their bodies experience as a result of cancer treatments. Local nutritionists, exercise specialists and stylists volunteer their time to Feeling Fabulous in order to help participants feel their best and more confident.

“This class is designed to improve the lives of individuals undergoing cancer treatment,” said Debra Lyons, MSN, APRN-BC, infusion clinic nurse manager at the Cancer Center and coordinator of the Feeling Fabulous program. “In addition to self-care tips, the class offers an opportunity to connect with others sharing a cancer diagnosis. When participants leave this class, we want them to feel the support of our community.”

Feeling Fabulous features a variety of fun and informational activities that cover skin and nail care, strength and balance improvement, wigs and head coverings, nutritional needs and makeup techniques for hair loss and skin changes. Participants will leave with a free makeup kit and are invited to dress in costume for Halloween.

Lunch is provided for all Feeling Fabulous participants, but class size is limited. Register to attend by calling 931.490.7192.

This free quarterly event is made possible due to funding from the Maury Regional Health Care Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing unmet health care needs in southern Middle Tennessee. Since the Foundation’s establishment in 2006, it has funded more than $2.8 million in programs and services.

The Maury Regional Cancer Center is located at 808 South James Campbell Boulevard in the Columbia Mall. For more information about the center’s comprehensive services, visit MauryRegional.com/Cancer-Centers.
