Juniors and seniors can apply for Maury Regional MASH program in February

01.29.2020

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Applications will be accepted during the month of February for the 2020 Maury Academy for Students in Health (MASH) program at Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC). The two-week summer camp will be held in June for high school students interested in pursuing careers in health care.

MASH is coordinated by MRMC’s Volunteer Services Department for high school juniors and seniors who have interest in health care as a profession. Students who are admitted into the program visit numerous medical departments while observing and learning about different areas of medicine and health-related professions.

“The MASH program is a unique opportunity for local students to be immersed in a variety of health care settings and to interact with professionals who deliver care to patients,” said Cindy Short, assistant director for Volunteer Services. “Several of our previous MASH students have returned to our organization as employees to pursue their passion for health care as a career.”

MASH will take place June 8-19, 2020. If accepted, students would be required to attend the full session. Applications for the 2020 MASH program are available at mauryregional.com/MASH and must be submitted no later than March 1.

Applicants must be high school juniors or seniors during the 2020-21 school year, meet certain academic requirements and attend an in-person interview with a selection committee. Recommendations from school personnel are required.
